The Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time
We Gather in God's Name
Opening Responsive Greeting based on Psalm 46
Leader: God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
People: Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;
Leader: though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult.
People: Selah
Leader: There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High.
People: God is in the midst of the city; it shall not be moved; God will help it when the morning dawns.
Leader: The nations are in an uproar, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts.
People: The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.
Leader: Selah
People: Come, behold the works of the LORD; see what desolations he has brought on the earth.
Leader: He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow, and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire.
People: “Be still, and know that I am God! I am exalted among the nations, I am exalted in the earth.”
Leader: The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.
All: Selah

We Respond in Prayer
Prayers of Thanksgiving and Intercession
Please stand when offering a prayer, so others will know you have the floor.
The Lord's Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil,
for thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever.
Amen.
Doxology
Closing Prayer
Dear God
Thank you for hearing our prayers,
For making us feel closer to you,
For making us feel closer to the needs of our neighbors,
For encouraging us to love one another as you love us.
Amen
