God of peace and comfort, please hear our prayer when peace and comfort seem so far away. We pray for the community of Uvalde in the wake of last week's tragic school shooting. We pray for the families who have lost loved ones and are grieving right now. We pray for those who are injured and for the medical professionals who are caring for them. We know that you welcome all of your children into your arms, even when we can’t comprehend or accept the timing. Help us to be lights in our own community, to shine all the more brightly for the sake of those whose lights were extinguished too soon. Give us opportunities, Lord, to work for peace, for justice, and for healing in our world. Amen.
