We Gather in God's Name
Call to Worship: The Bells of Taize
Opening Song: The Kingdom of God
We Hear God's Word
Old Testament Scripture
from Psalm 103
My soul, give thanks to the Lord, all my being, bless God’s holy name. My soul, give thanks to the Lord and never forget all God’s blessings.
It is God who forgives all your guilt, who heals every one of your ills, who redeems your life from the grave, who crowns you with love and compassion, who fills your life with good things, renewing your youth like an eagle’s.
The Lord does deeds of justice, gives judgment to all who are oppressed. The Lord’s ways were made known to Moses; the Lord’s deeds to Israel’s children.
The Lord is compassion and love, slow to anger and rich in mercy. God does not treat us according to our sins nor repay us according to our faults.
For as the heavens are high above the earth so strong is God’s love for the God-fearing; As far as the east is from the west so far does he remove our sins.
Song: O Lord Hear My Prayer
New Testament Scripture
Luke 6:27-32,35
Jesus said, “But I say to you that listen, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. If anyone strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also; and from anyone who takes away your coat do not withhold even your shirt. Give to everyone who begs from you; and if anyone takes away your goods, do not ask for them again. Do to others as you would have them do to you. If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. (…) But love your enemies, do good and lend expecting nothing in return. Your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High; for he is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked.”

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
